Liverpool have completed a season-long loan deal for Chelsea attacker Victor Moses, according to reports
The 22-year-old former Wigan Athletic winger/forward becomes Liverpool’s third transfer deadline day signing, after the Merseysiders confirmed the 25 million capture of central defenders Mamadou Sakho and Tiago Ilori earlier today.
Moses was quoted as saying;
First and foremost, I’m delighted to have made the loan from Chelsea to a big club like Liverpool.
“The manager has done very well. There are a lot of quality players here – they’re winning games and creating chances. It’s a massive thing for me to be here
He went on to say;
The target is to get into the top four and for the club to compete in the Champions League. I just want to gel in, the formation and players here will help me
Moses scored only a solitary goal in 23 appearances for the Stamford Bridge outfit following his 9 million move to Chelsea from Wigan last year. He has yet to play this year, as Chelsea have signed a glut of midfielders this term, including Van Ginkel, Schurrle, and De Bruyne, which may have initiated the move.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has also allowed Italian forward Fabio Borini to join Sunderland on loan for the season, with the Moses capture perhaps a direct replacement. Borini is currently undergoing a medical at Sunderland and that deal is expected to be complete before the transfer window shuts at 11pm tonight (Monday).

After the Magpies came away with a 2-0 at St. James’ Park against Chelsea last weekend, Mourinho claimed in his post match interview that he had made 11 mistakes, in reference to the starting 11 that he selected for the game, a declaration that he is unlikely to act upon in full against West Brom on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues followed up their trip to the North East with a convincing 3-0 home win against German side Schalke, with a team that looked almost unrecognisable from the defeat to Alan Pardew’s Newcastle. The Portuguese coach made six changes to the side that beat the Bundesliga club in midweek, with the only enforced alteration being Samuel Eto’o in for Fernando Torres, who was missing through injury.
The Blues desperately need to pick up their Premier League form, with last week’s defeat meaning they lost even more ground on league leaders Arsenal, who sit pretty at the top of the table five points clear of their London rivals.
As a result, we’ve compiled a list of five things the former Real Madrid coach can change to avoid a repeat of last week’s performance.

Newcastle United will try for their first win in four matches in all competitions against second place Chelsea in Saturday’s lunchtime offering from the Premier League.
Alan Pardew and the Magpies lost another Tyne-Wear derby to neighbours and bitter rivals Sunderland last weekend and then crashed out of the Capital One Cup in extra time with a fourth round home defeat by Manchester City.
Jose Mourinho’s Blues meanwhile put City to the sword in a meeting of title contenders on Sunday and their second string proved too strong for Arsenal in the cup midweek.
Omens are not exactly encouraging for Newcastle coming into this latest test – they have only beaten Chelsea once in their last seven meetings at St James’ Park.
The Blues also rested ten of the XI that started the win over City. Yet the Toon gave a good account of themselves against the same opposition, forcing Manuel Pellegrini’s team to an additional half hour in cup action.
For a full preview of Newcastle’s match with Chelsea, complete with team news, stats and likely line-ups, read another piece from Joe Dempsey.
Here we look to five key tactical battles that may result in Mourinho’s men going to the Premier League summit – for a few hours at least – or help to move the Magpies up into the top half.

Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea played out an entertaining and feisty affair at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon, as old friends Andre Villas-Boas’ and Jose Mourinho’s sides shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.
It was Spurs who took the lead in the 19th minute, when Christian Eriksen broke free and found Roberto Soldado who, in turn, found Gylfi Sigurdsson – the Icelandic midfielder battled his way through to score his third Premier League goal of the season.
Chelsea equalised in the second half when, in the 65th minute, Juan Mata – on as a substitute – curled a free kick in to the box, which John Terry met with a glancing header which left Hugo Lloris standing.
Fernando Torres was sent off in the 81st minute for a second bookable offence, but Chelsea held out for the draw which, in the end, was a fair reflection of the match.

Romelu Lukaku could make a surprise transfer deadline move to Everton on a season-long loan, according to Sky Sports News.
The big Belgian striker hopes to feature in Jose Mourinho’s first team plans, but the recent signing of Samuel Eto’o has seen him fall down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
Yet the blue half of Merseyside could provide an unlikely solution for the man who lit up West Brom with 19 goals last year – despite the loan signing of Gerard Deulofeu, manager Roberto Martinez remains in the market for a forward and Lukaku could fit that bill.
Speaking on Sky Sports News, former Everton striker Tony Cottee welcomed the news, believing that if Lukaku wants a consistent run at first team football, a move away from Chelsea might be a good idea. He said:
“I’d like to see that happening – he was fantastic last year at West Brom, scored a load of goals and he’s a really good player.
“Is he going to play for Chelsea? Probably not, so it just depends. Eto’o has arrived at Chelsea, Torres is still there, so Lukaku at Everton would be a fantastic signing, I really think that … but I think there’ll be a lot of juggling in the next three to four hours.”
One thing’s for certain – Cottee’s not wrong.

Everton look to be the busiest of the Premier League clubs in the final minutes of the transfer window, as they look to tie up deals for three new signings.
According to reports coming from Sky Sports News, the Merseyside club are set to sign Manchester City’s England midfielder Gareth Barry, as the player has reportedly turned up at the club’s training ground.
And the club are also now finally coming close to a deal for Wigan midfielder James McCarthy, after Dave Whelan finally announced himself happy with the terms offered from the Toffees. The club will now thrash out terms for the player, ahead of unveiling the player after the deadline of 11pm passes.
The fee that Sky Sports are talking about is 13million, and the only sticking point is how the payment is broken down.
And finally, Sky Sports say that Everton have moved back into poll position to sign Chelsea’s Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku. All three would be significant boosts for Roberto Martinez, who still faces the possibility of life without Marouane Fellaini, with Manchester United likely to unveil the signing of the Belgian.

The long-awaited return of the “Special One” Jose Mourinho to Chelsea and the Premier League this summer promises to shake up England’s top flight and give the Blues a much-needed shot in the arm.
The West London club haven’t won the Premier League since 2010 now, while since then, Mourinho has been on his travels in Italy and Spain winning the Champions League and La Liga.
And the charismatic Portuguese boss has wasted no time in stamping his own footprint on Chelsea following his return for a second stint in charge, bringing in goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, midfielder Marco van Ginkel and striker Andr Sch rrle.
There’s also talk of what would be a huge transfer deal being completed for Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney, which really would be typical of Mourinho – always one to make a grand entrance.
But what of matters at the opposite end of the spectrum? Who might be leaving the Europa League champions this summer?
This is after all a team who only finished third last season and a hugely-disappointing sixth the season prior.
Is it time to clear out the deadwood at Stamford Bridge?

With the Premier League kicking off once again today, there’s a mass of speculation as to who will win this year’s flagship English football prize. With Sir Alex Ferguson and his thirteen titles safely out of the mix, there’s a raft of speculation that his replacement will struggle to emulate the successes of the last quarter of a century that have catapulted Manchester United to the most successful English side in league history.
Three teams are considered to be in with a big chance of taking the 2013-14 Premier League title. Last year’s winners Manchester United, who have consolidated their squad over the summer, and despite a dearth of signings, have a strong squad available to them. Manchester City are also in the mix, the 2011-12 champions hotly tipped to emulate the successes of Roberto Mancini in May 2012, following the acquisition of Jesus Navas, Fernandinho, and Negredo to their line-up. Manuel Pellegrini has one of the strongest squads ever seen in the Premier League on paper, and without a ball kicked, they are 9/4 favourites with most bookmakers.
However, perhaps the smart option are Chelsea. The Londoners are joint-favourites with most bookies, and with a slew of positive signs from Stamford Bridge over the summer, here’s why they’ll be lifting the Premier League trophy come May.
