Zooey Deschanel Works Her Whites At The Fox Fall Eco-Casino Party

We’ve seen so many whites in the weeks after Labor Day that we’re pretty sure no one even supports that rule anymore!

Zooey Deschanel was one of many stars to break the outdated fashion mantra on Monday at the Fox Fall Eco-Casino Party in Santa Monica.

The New Girl posed on the blue carpet in an all-white Oscar de la Renta dress, and while we’re not super sold on the black, bow-accented belt or pink suede Oroton heels, we like the wide lace trim!

We’re also grateful there were no tights involved in this ensem.

Progress!

Hollywood Mourns Cory Monteith On Twitter

FOX All-Star Party - Arrivals

It’s breaking my heart to write about this, as it seems to be some sort of haze-filled nightmare. And I’m not the only one.

Although that may be how a lot of people are feeling, it’s true. 31-year-old Glee star Corey Monteith was found dead early Saturday afternoon in a Vancouver, Canada hotel room.

As the world reacts in whatever way feels natural, Hollywood has taken to Twitter in droves to react, mourn, and even question whether or not this is actually happening. If anything, the list below is a small reminder that Corey touched the lives of many and should be remembered by them all.

Monteith’s reps released the following statement to Celebuzz:

“We are so saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of Cory Monteith are accurate. We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss.”

Zooey Deschanel Doesn’t Have Time for the Haters

Love-her-or-hate-her manic pixie dream girl twee all-star Zooey Deschanel quirked her way onto the cover of September’s Marie Claire. For the interview, Deschanel declined “to go vintage shopping with a journalist for the millionth time,” which, fair, but she didn’t decline to talk about her haters, online or elsewhere, saying “I don’t pay any mind to it, but it’s pretty shocking how when you give people anonymity – it’s like the worst of human nature.”

My theory is that people in this day and age want to dismiss things. So they want to be able to dismiss you. They say, “You don’t belong, you don’t deserve this because here’s why, and let me find an intellectual argument for why you wearing pink or cuff sleeves or a bow makes you not worthy of your accomplishments. Everything you’ve done doesn’t matter because you wore the wrong thing or you speak in a way that’s feminine or you identify yourself as feminine.” And I just think that’s bullshit. And smart people are doing it, and that’s surprising to me. I’ll give them being smart, but they’re being very shortsighted.”

Deschanel also calls the internet backlash against her “quirky” image the reason why she founded HelloGiggles.com, to be a “positive place online for girls.” She continues: “I just felt it’s important to teach young girls to be strong people, to not think, I can’t do this because I’m worried about what people will say. There are worse consequences, but online negativity stops people from being creative, part of which is having bad ideas as well as good ideas. When somebody says, ‘That idea’s stupid,’ you stop your flow of ideas. We can’t have the next generation be so afraid because they have been attacked.”

Deschanel also declines to talk about her new boyfriend, screenwriter Jamie Linden, though she does speak in broad terms about relationships. “I will say this: Whether you’re married or not, if you’re in a relationship, you have to wake up every day and say, ‘I want to stay with this person.’ You have to make the commitment every day and every second and every minute.”
